Numbers of seats to be won in the European Parliament elections 2024 by country

The next election for the European Parliament will take place in June 2024. The European Parliament has seen a significant restructuring since the United Kingdom left the EU in 2020 - which reduced the number of MEPs from 751 to 705 - and in 2024 the parliament will see an additional 15 seats divided among the member states. At each European Parliament election, seats are distributed to member states based on their relative shares of the EU's population, with a maximum of 96 seats per member state and a minimum of six. This means that Germany, the EU's largest country, gets 96 seats in 2024, while Malta, the smallest, gets 6. Italy and France are the countries set to gain the most seats in 2024 when compared with 2019, with an additional seven each.
