Reasons for preferring domestically produced milk in Japan 2023
Food safety was a leading reason for Japanese consumers to prefer domestically produced milk. As revealed in a survey conducted in July 2023 in Japan, nearly 75 percent of respondents who preferred milk from domestic production stated that the products seem safer. 41 percent wanted to support domestic dairy farmers through their purchase decisions.
