Japan: common in-store payment methods 2023

In a survey conducted in Japan in December 2023, around 62 percent of respondents stated that they normally used smartphones when paying in stores. A similar share of consumers reported using card-based payment methods, such as credit and debit cards, or electronic money smart cards.
