Japan: major areas of credit card usage 2023

According to a survey conducted in Japan in December 2023, over 60 percent of the respondents used their credit cards to pay for online shopping. Around 46 percent of consumers reported using their credit cards to pay for purchases made at department stores or consumer electronics retailers.
