Italy: main wine & sparkling wine companies by revenue

The figures provided by Competitive Data, reveal that in 2021, Gruppo Italiano Vini. was the wine firm generating the highest revenues in Italy, with earnings amounting to around 238.5 million euros. Second in the ranking came Cantine Riunite & CIV, whose revenues reached roughly 237 million euros in 2021.    

Wine production in Italy 

Italy is one of the major wine-producing countries worldwide . In 2021, the volume of wine produced added up to 50.2 million hectoliters. The regions with the highest level of production were Veneto, Apulia and Emilia Romagna .  

Wine consumption in Italy 

The first place as producing country does not translate in a leading position in terms of consumption for Italy. In fact, in 2021, this country ranked third after United States and France in volume of wine consumed. Individuals living in the North-East of Italy were more likely to drink wine than Italians from other areas of the country . On the contrary, this habit was less widespread among Italians coming from the Islands.
