In 2022, over 670 miles of electricity transmission lines were completed in the United States, down from 1,368 miles the previous year. Projects with a voltage up to 230 kilovolts accounted for roughly 70 percent of the length completed that year. No projects with a voltage of 500 kilovolts have been completed in the country since 2020.
