Number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation establishments in the EU 2011-2022
The total number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation establishments in the European Union (EU-27) increased sharply in 2022 compared to the first two years of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic but remained below pre-pandemic levels. After declining to around 1.4 billion in the first year of the health crisis, total overnight stays in the EU bounced back to roughly 2.7 billion in 2022. That year, there were more than 621 thousand tourist accommodation establishments in the European Union.
