Pensioner ratio of medical aid members in South Africa 2020-2021, by scheme
As of 2021, the average pensioner ratio of beneficiaries registered as part of a medical aid scheme in South Africans increased from 9 percent in the previous year to 9.1 percent, with open schemes being the main contributor. Restricted medical scheme beneficiaries had a lower pensioner ratio compared to those in open schemes, with 6.8 and 11 percent, respectively.
