Monthly value of digital card payments in Portugal 2022-2024, by type
In Portugal, during the period considered, the value of digital payment card operations was the highest for service or purchase payments. These amounted to over 2.1 billion euros in March 2024, increasing from the two billion euros recorded in the previous month. Payments to the Portuguese State or Social Security recorded the second highest figures, with more than 1.7 billion euros in payments in August 2023. Telecommunication payments amounted to to 26 million euros in January 2022, having since then decreased, reaching 19.4 million euros in March 2024.
