Portugal: light passenger vehicle fleet by fuel type 2021
In 2021, most of the Portuguese light passenger vehicles (including cars and pickups) were internal combustion engine vehicles. There were around 3.18 million diesel and 2.22 million petrol vehicles in circulation in the country that year. In contrast, battery-electric vehicles were not as popular on Portugese roads: Just over 43,300 battery-electric light passenger vehicles were registered in the country.
