Canadians' views on government policies to reduce CO2 emissions 2021, by 2021 vote
In October 2021, two-thirds of Canadians felt that governments should put more emphasis on their policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This view was shared by more than three-quarters of people who voted for the Liberal Party (77 percent), the New Democratic Party (78 percent), and the Green Party (79 percent) in the 2021 federal election. In contrast, only 44 percent of Conservative Party voters held this view. Moreover, one-quarter of Conservative voters thought that the government should place less emphasis on policies to reduce CO2 emissions.
