EU ETS allowances allocated and sold for stationary installations 2013-2024
In 2023, the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) allocated a total of 897.7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) emission allowances for free to stationary installations. That same year, some 518 MtCO₂e of allowances were auctioned or sold. The EU-ETS is a carbon credit market used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change.
