In 2022, Albania was the country with the largest construction industry as a share of its gross domestic product (GDP) in Europe and Central Asia. The relative size of Tajikistan's construction sector in 2021 was even larger, but the country did not have updated figures for the following year. While Austria's construction industry represented roughly 7.8 percent of its GDP, those figures amounted to roughly two percent in Ireland and Greece. In 2020, France and Germany were among the European countries with the highest construction production value.
