Carbon emissions from electricity generation in Nigeria 2000-2022
As of 2022, carbon emissions from the power sector in Nigeria reached around 11.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. This was a slight decrease from the previous year. Within the period reviewed, the highest volume of emissions from electricity generation in the country was achieved in 2014, when nearly 12.8 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent was registered.
