Mechanically propelled boats are those that require the use of engines, while non-mechanically propelled vessels are those that can be powered manually or by sails. When looking just at mechanically propelled boats in the United States, the most common size of a vessel was 16 to less than 26 feet - with approximately 6.5 million registered boats of this size in 2022.
