The Bakken and Eagle Ford basins recorded the highest monthly new-well oil production per rig in December 2023, at 1,811 and 1,590 barrels per day, respectively. In the Bakken basin, new-well oil production per rig net decreased from 2,747 barrels per day in January 2021. Despite only ranking third in terms of new-well production, the Permian basin is the largest oil producing region overall.
