Belgium: different contraceptives used by women 2018

In 2018, most sexually active women in Belgium, aged 15 to 49, used the pill as a contraceptive method. The second most popular method in Belgium was the intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD). In 2018, around 48 percent of Belgian women used the pill and roughly 26 percent of them the IUD. Other methods of contraception were used by women in the country, although to a much lesser extent. For instance, barriers such as diaphragms, spermicide or sponges were used by 8,3 percent of respondents.
