Facebook advertising spend priorities by EPP parties in selected EU countries 2019
In the months leading up to the European elections that took place from 23-26 May 2019, parties of the European People's Party (EPP) in Hungary spent half of their Facebook advertising budget on ads relating to the topic of immigration, whereas in Germany and Italy, immigration was not a priority. In Sweden, almost a quarter (23 percent) was spent on Facebook ads on the topic of climate change. In Austria, 11 percent of the budget was used on Facebook ads that made reference to the economic situation.
