Most influential television stations in Poland 2022

In the IMM ranking of Poland’s most frequently quoted television stations in 2022, first place was taken by TVN24 (over 16 thousand cross-media references), followed by Polsat News and TVP Info.

Television as a source of news

Although recent years have witnessed a shift in news consumption habits from traditional to digital, television remains an important source of acquiring news content; six in 10 Poles quoted TVN as their preferred television channel for obtaining news. Consequently, the Polish 24-hour commercial news channel TVN24 was the leader among news and information TV channels in the country, with a viewability rate of nearly 5.5 percent as of May 2022. Television was the main source of news and information among individuals with a basic vocational education background. 

Consumer behavior

Despite TVN figuring as the leading TV channel station in terms of news and information, Polsat was the station that raised the most positivity. A survey conducted in 2022 revealed that seven in 10 Poles had a good opinion of Polsat; relatively few respondents assessed the public television station TVP as good.
Consuming news often comes with confirming the credibility of the information received. News credibility verification is popular in Poland, with seven in 10 people searching other news sources to verify the information received. Search engines were the most popular place for news credibility verification. One-third of Poles also used Wikipedia for this purpose.
