Most consumed fruits in Japan 2023
Apples and mikan were the most consumed fruits in Japan as revealed in a survey conducted in October 2023. More than 43 percent of respondents ate apples at least once a month, while 42.3 percent stated to eat mikan frequently. Mikan, also called satsuma, are a variant of mandarin oranges, which are popular for their sweetness and loose skin in Japan.
