By comparison, in Scotland this figure amounted to 81, while there had been no recorded ventures in the three years prior. That same year, spending on public housing development came to 6.9 billion British pounds, with an additional 3.2 billion British pounds spent on community development. This was the highest expenditure in the past six years.
When it comes to the building of public facilities, unsurprisingly, London was the most expensive area. For example, construction costs for building a university would total 3,320 British pounds per square meter of internal area.
In terms of output value, construction for new public universities has stayed relatively constant over the years, apart from a noticeable decline recorded in 2012. Similarly, figures for public health buildings have also been fluctuating, with 2 billion British pounds invested in 2017.
