Since 2012, the majority of the US adults who favor more hydraulic fracturing for oil and natural gas are Republicans and Republican-leaning. In 2020, 56 percent of the respondents who favored the expansion of hydraulic fracturing for oil and natural gas were Republicans and Republican-leaning and 21 percent were Democrats and Democrat-leaning. However, in 2012, 71 percent of the respondents favoring hydraulic fracturing expansion were Republicans and Republican-leaning and 37 percent were Democrats and Democrats-leaning.
