Canada is home to many large malls, including the West Edmonton Mall in Alberta, which is over 3.2 million square feet in area. Over the last several years, sales per square foot of shopping mall space in Canada has increased. Shopping Behavior of U.S. Millennials
Millennials, which are loosely defined as individuals who reached adulthood around the year 2000, are a significant force in the American retail sector. Over half of U.S. Millennials shop at least once a week in brick and mortar stores, compared to 44 percent of Generation Xers and 27 percent of Baby Boomers. Millennials prefer to shop in brick and mortar stores because they do not have to wait for products to be delivered, and because they like to see, hold, and try on the products before purchasing them.
