Cinema: a French passion
In 2017, there were 5,913 cinema screens in France. France was the country in Europe with the highest number of digital screens well ahead most populated countries like Germany and Russia. The French appear to love going to movies and in 2016, more than 213 million of cinema admissions were reported in the country. France has approximately 11,000 inhabitants per one cinema screen and those screens allow moviegoers to discover new French and international productions which are released every Wednesday in the country. And if the French enjoy American movies sometimes, they seem to be pretty chauvinist too. In the ranking of the five most popular films released in the country since 1945, three were French movies.
