This statistic presents the distribution of expectations among the not-retired populations of Italy and Germany, with regards to the levels of social security retirement benefits they are expecting to receive when they are ready to retire, as of 2014. Only seven percent of Italian respondents indicated that they expected benefits to remain at current levels in the future. In comparison, 53 percent of the Italian working population expected there to be no benefits available at all by their retirement age mark. Furthermore, 45 percent of the German population expected benefits to be provided in the future, but at reduced levels.
