Facebook held the largest share of the UK market in April 2019, claiming 61.55 percent of the market. Pinterest took the second largest share, with 16.29 percent. By April 2019, the month of the service’s eventual closure, Google+’s share had fallen to 0.02 percent.
While Facebook maintained their position at the top of the heap, the 61.55 percent share held in April 2019 is significantly lower than it was in April 2016, when Facebook held a market share of 82.11 percent.
Leading social media apps by downloads
While Snapchat is not among the apps considered in the social media market share calculations, it tops the social apps downloaded to android devices in Great Britain. YOLO: Q&A was the most popular social networking app on iPhones in Great Britain, downloaded 860,770 times during May 2019.
