Best-known environmental impact of farming in Japan 2023
Greenhouse gases from farm animals were the most well-known causes for the environmental burden resulting from agriculture among consumers in Japan, according to a survey conducted in October 2023. Around 70 percent of respondents reported that they knew about the environmental burden from greenhouse gases generated by the burps and excrement of cows and other animals. Two percent were aware that agriculture affected the environment negatively, but did not know the exact causes.
