Detained journalists worldwide 2023, by charge
As of December 1, 2023, close to 60 percent of imprisoned journalists were detained on anti-state charges. China and Myanmar were the riskiest countries for journalists in 2023 in terms of the threat of detention, with over 40 journalists imprisoned in each as of December that year.
