U.S. perceived need for a third major political party 2003-2023, by party
As of October 2023, about 63 percent of Democrats expressed the need for a third major party in U.S. politics, while the figure was 58 percent for Republicans - these were the highest figures among respondents for both respective parties. Perhaps unsurprisingly, about two-thirds of independents in the U.S. agreed on the need for a third major political party.
