Compulsory earthquake insurance premiums in Turkey 2001-2023
The value of premiums generated by the compulsory earthquake insurance in Turkey steadily increased over the shown period. The value of premiums totaled about 54.5 million Turkish lira in 2001 compared to over 4.7 billion Turkish lira generated in 2023.
Compulsory earthquake insurance in Turkey was introduced in 2000 following the major earthquakes that occurred in 1999 in the country. Compulsory earthquake insurance (DASK) covers material and financial damages to the insured buildings caused by an earthquake, fire, explosion, tsunami, and landslide that may occur during or after an earthquake.
