Twitter: deactivated and suspended accounts in the days following Musk take-over 2022
On the 27th October 2022, Elon Musk acquired Twitter and assigned himself the role of CEO of the company following a a surprise bid of 44 billion U.S. dollars in April 2022. Between October 27th and November 1st, approximately 877 thousand Twitter accounts were deactivated by users and 497 thousand accounts were suspended by Twitter, meaning that around 1.3 million Twitter profiles have been lost since Musk's take over. This is more than double the normal amount of weekly deactivated and suspended accounts in the measured time frame.
