Number of prisoners in Morocco 2000-2020
Morocco had nearly 85 thousand prisoners in the country as of 2020, decreasing from around 86.4 thousand in the previous year. The volume of imprisoned people in the country followed an increasing trend within the examined period, registering declines only in 2006 and 2020. Furthermore, Morocco had a prison capacity of 51,776 people as of 2017, which, compared to the current prison population, represents an overcrowding situation in the prison system.
