Foreign arrivals to the Soviet Union 1970-1989, by area of origin
In select years between 1970 and 1989, the number of foreign arrivals in the Soviet Union increased from just over two million in 1970, to almost eight million in 1989. The vast majority of arrivals in each year came from Europe, although the share arriving from Asia increased to more than half a million in 1989.
