In 2020, among the surveyed domestic private enterprises in Vietnam, 58 percent of firms within the information and communication sector laid off their workforces due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was followed by motor vehicle manufacturing and leather production sectors. In total, around 35 percent of surveyed domestic private firms reported laying off their employees due to the pandemic that year.
