Primary forest extent in West Africa 2001-2020
West Africa had its primary forest area reaching 10.2 million hectares in 2020, against the 10.9 million hectares recorded 10 years earlier. This means that a total of seven thousand hectares of primary forest was lost within the last decade. Overall, compared to 2001, the extent of primary forest increased in the rainforest region.
