Tax burden sub-score of Tunisia on the Economic Freedom Index 2000-2020
As of 2020, the tax burden sub-score on the Economic Freedom Index for Tunisia was 74.2 points. Thus, the tax burden in the country was considered "mostly free". Between 2000 and 2020, the tax burden score fluctuated between 68.7 points in 2001 and 76.5 points in 2009. The score was higher than the African average between 2000 and 2010 as well as in 2012, while it was below the continent average in 2011 and from 2013 to 2020. In comparison to the world average, the Tunisian tax burden scored higher than the world average in 2000, 2001, 2008, and 2009.
