Amongst U.S. consumers (aged 21+) who drink vodka at least once a month and know at least one brand by name, Smirnoff is most popular when it comes to vodka, followed by Absolut Vodka – first choice among 51% of the respondents. Smirnoff spent US$10.6 million on advertising in the United States in 2018, around US$2 million of which were spent on internet ads. Until then, the last time, Smirnoff had invested more than US$1 million in online advertising had been in 2010.

Produced by British alcohol conglomerate Diageo which also produces the likes of Johnnie Walker – Captain Morgan and Guinness, Smirnoff is leading vodka brand in the global market. It generated sales volumes of 26 million 9-liter cases in 2018 which is twice as high as second ranking Absolut Vodka. Third on the list is Khortytsa which sold almost nine million 9-liter cases of vodka in 2018.
