U.S. adults that use some prevention against Lyme disease 2017, by region
This statistic displays the percentage of U.S. adults who practiced select prevention measures against ticks and Lyme disease as of 2017, by region. According to the survey, 94 percent of respondents in the West used some sort of preventative measure to avoid ticks and Lyme disease. Comparatively, just 48 percent of respondents in the West indicated that they used insect repellent. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by ticks to humans. If left untreated, Lyme disease can affect the joints, heart and nervous system.
