With an estimated 745,000 eligible people, Mexico was the number one country of origin for people immediately eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in the United States in 2022. El Salvador trailed behind, but was the country with the second highest population immediately eligible for DACA, with 55,000 people.

DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is an Obama administration immigration policy that grants deferred action status to illegal immigrants who entered the United States before their 16th birthday and before June of 2007, and are currently in school, high school graduates, or were honorably discharged from the military. They must also be under age 31 as of June 15, 2012 and not have been convicted of a felony, severe misdemeanor or three or more misdemeanors. Deferred action status is an immigrant status that can defer deportation indefinitely.
