Annual household expenditure on alcoholic beverages in Canada 2010-2017
The average annual household expenditure on alcoholic beverages in Canada has gradually increased over the given time period. According to the Survey of Household Spending, in 2017, the average Canadian household spent 1,098 Canadian dollars on alcohol, an increase of over 200 dollars per year since 2010.

According to a recent survey which asked Canadian adults which types of alcohol they prefer to drink , wine was stated by 50 percent of respondents as one of their top three choices. Domestic and imported beer ranked in second and third places, with a 31 and 24 percent share of the vote respectively. Canadian consumers’ love of the fermented grape beverage has no doubt contributed to its growing retail sales. In 2018, sales of wine amounted to approximately 10.62 billion U.S. dollars in Canada and are forecast to reach around 13.23 billion dollars by 2022.
